As of today, March 22nd  you can buy tickets to the opening of the American Independent Film Festival, which will take place on the April 27th, with I, Tonya (2017), about the well known skater Tonya Harding, one of the most acclaimed films of the year.

The screening will take place at 20:30 at Cinema PRO, and the film will be introduced by one of the main characters, actor Sebastian Stan. After the screening the actor will be holding a Q&A, and will answer questions. After this Q&A session Sebastian Stan will be signing autographs and offer photographs to fans.

Sebastian Stan is an American actor, born in Romania, in Constanta, who has really risen in Hollywood these past years – being present in films like The Martian, Black Swan and the series Captain America. I, Tonya is the first Oscar nominated production in which Sebastian Stan has a leading role. The film is based on a true story, and focuses on the life story of the famous ice skater Tonya Harding.

You can also purchase tickets for Wonder Wheel and Lucky – by John Carroll Lynch, two films that will be shown exclusively and in premiere during the festival.

Wonder Wheel is Woody Allen’s most recent comedy, and will screen at Cinema PRO on April 29th, at 20:30. The film is considered by critics to be the best in the last five years of the director’s career. Justin Timberlake stars alongside Kate Winslet and Juno Temple and tells the story of four characters whose lives meet in the midst of the busy Coney Island amusement park, sometime in the 50s’.

Woody Allen – the author of some iconic films like „Zelig”, „Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask”, made over 50 films in his career – preserving a cadence of a film per year despite his age and the recent discussions generated in the American film world by the Weinstein scandal.

The third film programmed for the first weekend of the festival for which the public can already buy tickets, “Lucky,” features David Lynch, the reputed author of “Twin Peaks” or “Mullholland Drive.” Lynch, who plays under the wand of another Lynch, interprets the role of the eccentric “Howard,” one of Lucky’s buddies. The film is a love letter dedicated to actor Harry Dean Stanton’s life and career (“Paris, Texas”, 1984). The film received the Ecumenical Jury Prize at Locarno in 2017 and it will be presented also in Bucharest on April 28, from 20:30 at Cinema Muzeul Țăranului.

The ticktes can be bought on Eventbook.ro and in the Eventbook network.
