Open Casting and Industry Programme for Actors

The 17th edition of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest is once again hosting Managing Talents, the longstanding programme dedicated to actors from Romania and beyond.
Now in its 11th edition, Managing Talents aims to provide actors with practical training, industry connections and professional opportunities that can support their careers both nationally and internationally.
This year’s programme includes an Open Casting directed by Cristian Mungiu with selected participants auditioning for roles in a new film scheduled for production next year.
Selected applicants will also take part in an onstage Self-Tape workshop, panel discussion and networking opportunities with internationally recognised casting directors, talent agents and industry professionals.
For this special edition, the call is open to actors from Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an actor aged between 18 and 65
- Originate from Romania, the Republic of Moldova or Bulgaria
- Speak Romanian or Bulgarian and English
- Submit a self-tape according to the instructions below
- Be available to attend the programme in Bucharest on 25 October 2026

11:00 – 12:15 – Self-Tape Workshop
Selected participants will work on stage with industry professionals to improve their self-taping skills and audition performance.
12:15 – 12:30 – break
12:30 – 14:00 – Open Casting with Cristian Mungiu
A live casting session for principal roles in an upcoming feature film directed by Cristian Mungiu.
Practical Information
Entry to the event on the 25th of October will be made on a first-come-first-serve basis
Selected actors will be invited on the spot to participate onstage for the Self-Tape workshop and for the Open Casting session with Cristian Mungiu.
Applicants are encouraged to regularly check their Filmmakers profile for updates regarding the event.
- Participation is free of charge.
- Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
- The festival does not provide reimbursement for transport or lodging.
- The working language of the programme will be English

Sophie was also Casting Director for the Almeida’s GREEK season including most notably THE ILIAD casting over 50 of the UK most well known actors for a 24 hours reading of Homer’s epic tale.


Laure Cochener is a Paris-based casting director with over 20 years of experience in film and television. Her credits include The Substance, The Eddy, The Count of Monte Cristo, Downton Abbey: A New Era, The Serpent Queen, and Our Struggles. She works across both French and international productions and is a member of the French Casting Directors Association (ARDA) and the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA).
Laura Munsterhjelm is the CEO and founder of the leading agency in Scandinavia, Actors in Scandinavia. With more than 30 years of experience representing and managing actors, Laura has built a strong international network and a proven track record of helping her clients achieve success both in Scandinavia and internationally.
