The main winners from the Cannes and Berlin film festivals, in premiere at Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest in October.

The Palme d’Or winner at Cannes, L’Anatomie d’une Chute, directed by Justine Triet, will have its premiere screening at the 14th edition of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest festival. This year, the festival will take place from October 20th to 29th in Bucharest, as well as in other cities across the country.

The films that received the most prestigious awards in the world of art cinema will be available for their premiere screenings at the festival.

L’Anatomie d’une Chute, the winner of the 2023 Palme d’Or, follows the story of Sandra, Samuel, and their visually impaired son, Daniel, who have been living in a remote mountain location for the past year. When Samuel is found dead outside the house, an investigation for death in suspicious circumstances is launched. Amidst the uncertainty, Sandra is indicted: Was it suicide or homicide? A year later Daniel attends his mother’s trial, a veritable dissection of his parents’ relationship.

The lead role is played by Sandra Hüller, a rising star in European cinema, who is fluent in German, English, and French. She is known to the Romanian audience for her role in Toni Erdmann, a film directed by Maren Ade, partially shot in Romania, and also premiered at Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest.

In February, Sur l’Adamant won the Golden Bear at Berlinale.

L’Adamant is a unique day-care centre. A floating structure located on the Seine in the heart of Paris, it welcomes adults suffering from mental disorders, offering the kind of care that grounds them in time and space and helps them to recover or keep up their spirits.

Driven by a genuine and contagious interest in everything that stirs within a community, Nicolas Philibert, one of the great documentary film directors, invites us to join the welcoming microcosm of Adamant through this gentle and honest film.

The French director Nicolas Philibert has received numerous awards for his films, including Être et avoir, La Maison de la radio, and Le pays des sourds.

L’Anatomie d’une Chute and Sur l’Adamant will be distributed in Romania by Voodoo Films, one of the co-organizers of the festival.

In Bucharest, the screenings will take place in the following cinema halls: Elvire Popesco of the French Institute in Romania, The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant Cinema, as well as in the halls of the Romanian Cinematheque – Eforie Cinematheque and Union Cinema. The festival schedule will be announced at the end of September on www.filmedefestival.ro, and tickets will also be available for purchase through the Eventbook network.
