Vlad Ivanov was born in 1969 in Botoșani, Romania. After he graduated from the Bucharest Academy, he starred in many film including Cristian Mungiu’s 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days (Palme d’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival), which put him on the world map. In 2009, he was seen in Tales from the Golden Age co-directed by Cristian Mungiu and Radu Mihaileanu’s The Concert. He landed a role in Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 Snowpiercer. He worked under the direction of Radu Muntean in One Floor Below, and Bogdan Mirică in Dogs, both selected at Un Certain Regard in 2015, respectively 2016. He had other major roles in Hier (d. Balint Kenyeres, 2018), Sunset (d. László Nemes, Cannes 2018) or La Gomera, directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, and included in the official selection of Cannes this year.
