A special edition of Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Timi\u0219oara takes place from the 19<\/b>th <\/b>to the 22<\/b>nd <\/b>of October.<\/b><\/h3>\n

This year, Les Films de Cannes brings an impressive lineup to Bucharest and Timi\u0219oara, featuring the latest films by renowned filmmakers such as Aki Kaurism\u00e4ki, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, and Wim Wenders. A special edition of Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Timi\u0219oara takes place from the 19<\/b>th <\/b>to the 22<\/b>nd <\/b>of October, and it is dedicated to the contribution of female filmmakers to contemporary cinema and the issues pertaining to gender representation in related professions within the film industry.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Gender Equality in Cinema<\/i><\/b>: The special edition Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Timi\u0219oara is part of this year’s exceptional program in Timi\u0219oara – European Capital of Culture 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n

Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Bucarest takes place from the 20<\/b>th<\/b> to the 29<\/b>th <\/b>of October at Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinemateca Eforie, Cinema Union, and Cinema Muzeul \u021a\u0103ranului. A selection of films will be subsequently screened in Cluj-Napoca, Ia\u0219i, and Arad.<\/b><\/p>\n

Award-winning films that will be showcased in Timi\u0219oara and Bucharest at Les Films de Cannes:<\/span><\/p>\n

The first films confirmed for this autumn are: the winner of the <\/span>Palme d’Or 2023<\/b>, <\/span>Anatomy of a Fall\/L’Anatomie d’une Chute<\/span><\/i> directed by the French filmmaker Justine Triet, and <\/span>On the Adamant\/Sur l\u2019Adamant<\/span><\/i>, the winner of the 2023 <\/span>Berlin Golden Bear<\/b>, directed by the French filmmaker Nicolas Philibert. Both will premiere at <\/span>Les Films de Cannes 2023.<\/b> In addition to these, the other major award-winning films from Cannes will be screened for the audiences in Timi\u0219oara and Bucharest.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jury Prize, Cannes 2023<\/i><\/b>, <\/span>Fipresci Grand Prix<\/i><\/b>: h<\/span>eartwarming, tragic, and comedic all at once, <\/span>Fallen Leaves<\/span><\/i> is a classic directed by the unmistakable Finnish director Aki Kaurism\u00e4ki. Ansa and Holappa coincidentally meet at a karaoke night in Helsinki, and both harbor hopes of finding their true love on this occasion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Best Director Award, Cannes 2023<\/i><\/b>: awarded to the French-Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (known for <\/span>The Scent of Green Papaya<\/span><\/i>) for <\/span>The Pot-au-Feu<\/span><\/i> (recently renamed <\/span>The Taste of Things<\/span><\/i>), a period gourmet film that enjoyed significant public success at Cannes, depicting the culinary and romantic journey of Eug\u00e9nie (Juliette Binoche) and Dodin (Beno\u00eet Magimel).<\/span><\/p>\n

Best Actress Award, Cannes 2023<\/i><\/b>: Merve Dizdar, for her role in <\/span>About Dry Glasses<\/span><\/i> directed by the Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who delivers a Chekhovian film that is described as \u201cpart love triangle, part ethics lesson, and part critique of the Turkish education system\u201d by <\/span>The Hollywood Reporter.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Best Actor, Cannes 2023<\/i><\/b>: K\u014dji Yakusho, for his role as a toilet cleaner in <\/span>Perfect Days<\/span><\/i> the German-Japanese co-production by one of the world’s greatest directors, Wim Wenders. The film is an ode to the simple joys of life in a world where, with a change in perspective, every day can be perfect.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gender Equality in Cinema: The special edition of Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Timi\u0219oara<\/i><\/b>\u00a0invites a significant number of female filmmakers from Europe to share their work experience with the audience and engage in discussions about their experiences in the European film industry in 2023.<\/span> The audience from Timi\u0219oara will have the opportunity to meet these globally recognized figures in the film industry during the festival’s Q&A sessions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
