At the age of 12, he arrives in France. After studying philosophy and cinema, he shot his first short films in the 80s. In 1991, he created his own production company <em>Cin\u00e9mas de la Zone<\/em> and directed the medium-length film, <em><strong>Carne<\/strong><\/em>, the story of a butcher who raises only his mentally disabled daughter. The film won the Critics&#8217; Week Award and the mention of the Youth Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. <strong>No\u00e9<\/strong> then creates a long version of this film, Alone against all. Presented in Cannes in 1998, the film is scandalous because of its ideological ambiguity. In 2002, <strong>No\u00e9<\/strong> shocks again with <em><strong>Irr\u00e9versible<\/strong><\/em>, also presented in competition at Cannes, in which Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci form a couple facing rape. He returnes to Cannes in 2009 with <em><strong>Enter the Void<\/strong><\/em>, which takes place in Tokyo. The director again provokes the public in 2015 with <em><strong>Love<\/strong><\/em>, a sulphurous film, forbidden to minors and presented in 3D.
