Announcing the complete festival program<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting today, Les Films de Cannes <\/strong>\u00e0<\/strong> Bucarest is announcing the complete program and the tickets are on sale<\/strong> for the 8th<\/sup> edition of the most anticipated festival of the fall. The majority of the films presented this year from the official Cannes Film Festival, but also selected titles from parallel sections, will be screened in Romania for the first time between October 13th<\/sup> and 22nd<\/sup>, in four movie theatres in Bucharest \u2013 Cinema PRO<\/strong>, Cinema Elvira Popescu<\/strong>, Cinema Muzeul \u021a\u0103ranului Rom\u00e2n<\/strong> and Cinemateca Eforie<\/strong>. The complete program<\/strong> of the festival can be checked on filmedefestival.ro<\/strong> and the tickets<\/strong> are available on the Eventbook<\/strong><\/a> network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The list of winners at Cannes selected for this year\u2019s edition of Les Films de Cannes <\/strong>\u00e0<\/strong> Bucarest<\/strong>\u2014the Palme d\u2019Or, the Grand Prix, the Best Director, the Best Screenplay and the Best actor or Camera d\u2019Or\u2014is rounded out by the winning film of the Un Certain Regard Prize: A Man of Integrity<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, the sixth feature-length film of one of the most reputable Iranian directors, Mohammad Rasoulof<\/strong> (Goodbye<\/em>, 2011, Un Certain Regard – Best Director). The realist drama about a former school teacher, Reza, who withdraws with his family to a village in the north of Iran to find an easier life in the countryside and his fight with a private company that wants to buy his land, recalls themes the director has approached in previous films: injustice, corruption, the means an authoritarian regime uses to reduce individual voices to silence.<\/p>\n

The program of Les Films de Cannes \u00e0 Bucarest includes films that competed for this year\u2019s Palme d\u2019Or. The two-time winner of the prestigious award (The White Ribbon<\/em>, Amour<\/em>), the Austrian Michael Haneke<\/strong> has returned to Cannes this year with Happy End<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a black comedy presenting the decline of a family of European bourgeoisie with Isabelle Huppert<\/strong> in the lead role. The two have already collaborated four times before, the first time in 2001 for the film The Piano Teacher<\/em>, for which Haneke received the Jury Prize and Huppert the award for Best Actress at Cannes. Dr. Paul Meyer is portrayed by J<\/strong>\u00e9r\u00e9mie Renier<\/strong> in the film L\u2019amant double<\/a> (Amant Double)<\/em><\/strong>, a favorite of the Dardenne brothers. The erotic, humorous thriller is directed by Fran\u00e7ois Ozon<\/strong>, one of the most provocative and vibrant directors to become known in the \u201890s, his films recurrently exploring sexuality and transgression (8 femmes<\/em>, 2002 \/ Swimming Pool<\/em>, 2003).<\/p>\n

The Day After<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Hong Sangsoo or Radiance<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, the fifth official selection at Cannes for the director Naomi Kawase, the hero of which is a photographer who has lost his sight, resulting in sound playing a fundamental role in the composition of the film, could not be left out either.<\/p>\n

Les Fant<\/em><\/strong>\u00f4<\/em><\/strong>mes d\u2019Isma<\/em><\/strong>\u00eb<\/em><\/strong><\/a>l<\/a> (Ismael\u2019s Ghosts)<\/em><\/strong> of the French auteur Arnaud Desplechin<\/strong>, winner of the 2016 C\u00e9sar Award for best director with the film Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse (My Golden Days)<\/em> opened the Cannes Film Festival in 2017. In its leading roles, the drama has Mathieu Amalric, Marion Cotillard and Charlotte Gainsbourg and will have its premiere screening in Bucharest alongside another special screening from Cannes, How to Talk to Girls at Parties<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, directed by John Cameron Mitchell, cast with Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, a story about the birth of punk, the joyousness of the first love and about the greatest mystery in the universe: how to talk to girls at parties.<\/p>\n

Cinephiles have the opportunity to see Claire Denis<\/strong>\u2019s recent romantic drama in its Romanian premiere, Un beau soleil int\u00e9rieur <\/a>(Let the Sunshine In)<\/em><\/strong>, with Juliette Binoche in the role of a single mother on the quest for true love. The film was awarded the SACD Prize \/ Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques in the Directors\u2019 Fortnight section at Cannes. The debut of the celebrated director of music videos, Geremy Jasper was included at the Directors\u2019 Fortnight, Patti Cake$<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a story from Jersey, full of humor, energy and memorable beats, with the Australian Danielle Macdonald, who\u2019s drawn international critical attention for her role as Patti.<\/p>\n

The titles The Summit<\/em><\/strong> \/ La cordillera<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by the Chilean director Santiago Mitre and Closeness<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Kantemir Balagov will also be present from the Un Certain Regard section.<\/p>\n
