They repeated their collaboration on\u00a0<strong><em>Raging Bull<\/em><\/strong> (1980), <strong><em>The Last Tempation of Christ<\/em><\/strong> (1988) and\u00a0<strong><em>Bringing Out the Dead<\/em><\/strong> (1999), while Schrader also worked with Brian De Palma on\u00a0<strong><em>Obsession<\/em><\/strong> (1976), and with Peter Weir on\u00a0<strong><em>The Mosquito Coast<\/em><\/strong> (1986). In the film criticism world, Schrader broadly discussed his influences in\u00a0<em>Transcendental Style in Film<\/em>. <em>Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer<\/em> (1972) \u2013 enriching each re-publication with new entries concerning modern world cinema trends. As a director, he has made films such as\u00a0<strong><em>American Gigolo<\/em><\/strong> (1980) and\u00a0<strong><em>Cat People<\/em><\/strong> (1982); however, it is his Japanese co-production\u00a0<strong><em>Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters<\/em><\/strong> (1985) that many critics consider his most original work. Following a period of experimentation with different film styles, usually opting for independent, small budget film, Schrader has recaptured spectators and critics\u2019 eyes with <strong><em>First Reformed<\/em><\/strong>.
