Films that have premiered in and been selected to some of the world\u2019s most important festivals, such as Sundance, Toronto, Cannes, Venice, and Telluride will be screening in Romanian premiere, between the <\/span><b>12<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>18<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>April<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at <\/span><b>Cinema PRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Cinema Muzeul \u021a\u0103ranului<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Bucure\u0219ti, and in Ia\u0219i, at the <\/span><b>Cinema Ateneu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Known in the film industry for a diverse, original, and attractive filmography, director <\/span><b>Jacques Audiard will be attending the third edition of the American Independent Film Festival for the premiere of his most recent film, <\/b><b><i>The Sisters Brothers<\/i><\/b><b>, on Friday, April 12th, at 8:00 pm at CinemaPRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>The full screening program is available as of today on the<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/filmedefestival.ro\/american-independent-ff\/editia-2020\"><b><i>filmedefestival.ro<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i>, <\/i><\/b><b>and tickets can be purchased through <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/eventbook.ro\/program\/american-independent-film-festival\"><b>Eventbook.ro<\/b><\/a><b>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Sisters Brothers<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Audiard\u2019s western starring John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed and Rutger Hauer, was shot partially in Romania, in the summer of 2017, after Audiard noted the country\u2019s filming potential while on his first visit to present his Palme d\u2019Or winning <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dheepan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Sisters Brothers<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">became one of the biggest budget foreign films to be shot in Romania; only set design, costumes, and horses were accorded a budget of over 5 million euro by producers.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Audiard will also be present at the second screening of the festival, on <\/span><b>Saturday, April 13th, at 4:30 pm, at Cinema Muzeul \u021a\u0103ranului<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0There will be a Q&amp;A session following the screenings. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For <\/span><b><i>The<\/i><\/b> <b><i>Sisters Brothers<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Audiard and his cowriter Thomas Bidegain rewrote Patrick de Witt\u2019s novel of the same for the screen. A bestseller in North America (and later translated into Romanian at Polirom). \u00a0John C. Reilly bought the rights to its cinematic remake, optioning it to Jacques Audiard, <\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of whom he had been a long-time admirer. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Costumes were created by Italian-American Milena Canonero, four-time winner at the Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chariots of Fire <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(H. Hudson), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Barry Lindon<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (S. Kubrick), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maria Antoaneta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (S. Coppola) and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Grand Budapest Hotel <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(W Anderson<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><b><i> The Sisters Brothers<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, where it won the Silver Lion for Best Director. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jacques Audiard\u2019s career began as Assistant Director to Roman Polanski in <\/span><b><i>The Tenant<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in 1976. 18 years later, he made <\/span><b><i>Regarde les hommes tomber,<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a road-movie starring Mathieu Kassovitz and Jean-Louis Trintignant, his first feature length film which would unleash a body of work premiered and awarded in Cannes, at the C\u00e9sar\u2019s, BAFTAs and Lumi\u00e8re Awards.
