Tickets will be available soon on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eventbook.ro\/program\/american-independent-film-festival\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eventbook.ro<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and on the Eventbook network. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Under The Silver Lake,<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> David Robert Mitchell\u2019s neo-noir premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival last year, and is being shown for the first time in Romania, at the American Independent Film Festival, on <\/span><b>April 12<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at <\/span><b>Cinema Ateneu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, during the local edition of the festival in <\/span><b>Ia\u0219i<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In Bucharest, the film will be presented on the <\/span><b>14<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>15<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>April<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at <\/span><b>Cinema PRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Cinema Muzeul \u021a\u0103ranului<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Considered by Variety as an \u201ehomage to David Lynch,\u201c the films tells of Sam (Andrew Garfield), a young man from Los Angeles, obsessed by pop culture, who spies on his neighbours and reads conspiracy theories instead of looking for a job. \u00a0When Sarah, his young and enigmatic neighbour, suddenly disappears, Sam takes off after her, crossing the city on a surreal obsessive chase, which drowns him in the dark world of the City of Angels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Under the Silver Lake<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stars Andrew Garfield, known for his roles in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spider-Man<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Marc Webb), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silence<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Martin Scorsese), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hacksaw Ridge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Mel Gibson), and Riley Keough, Elvis Presley\u2019s niece, who has had roles in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The House That Jack Built<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Lars von Trier) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Honey<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Andrea Arnold). Distributed by Independen\u021ba Film in Romania, the film hits theatres on April 26<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nominated for two awards at the BAFTAs, <\/span><b><i>McQueen<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the first film about the famous designer, Alexander McQueen. The film will have a special screening at the festival on <\/span><b>Saturday, April 13<\/b><b>th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at <\/span><b>Cinema PRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where the audience will have the chance to admire a selection of pieces inspired by the master, by Romanian designers <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andreea Buga (Argo Art) and Isabelle Vijiiac (Atelier Isabelle Vijiiac). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A real modern fairytale with gothic nuances, the controversial designer\u2019s biography \u201cconveys the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">outrageous glory of the designer\u2019s work and poignantly unpicks his inner issues\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(The Guardian) through exclusive interviews with family members and friends, found archival footage, and a refined musical score. Alexander McQueen was an edgy genius, fascinating and a profound influence on fashion, who fought his entire life with his own demons, while winning the title of \u00a0the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enfant terrible<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the haute couture world through his daring collections.<\/span> <b><i>McQueen<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is distributed by Atelier de Film in Romania. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jake Gyllenhaal will appear for the second time in the American Independent Film Festival\u2019s program, in <\/span><b><i>Wildlife,<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> alongside Carrie Mulligan (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Education, The Great Gatsby<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). <\/span><b><i>Wildlife <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">marks Paul Dano\u2019s directorial debut, and manages to put on screen <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201ca <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tender, gorgeous, and exquisitely understated drama about a family that loses its faith in itself,\u201d according to IndieWire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film, which premiered in Sundance in 2018, is based on Richard Ford\u2019s book of the same name, and tells the story of the Brinson family, living in the 60s, through the lens of 14-year-old Joe. Joe is the only child of Jeanette (Carrie Mulligan), a housewife, and Jerry (Jake Gyllenhaal), a pro golfer. When an uncontrollable wildfire hits the border with Canada, the man of the family decides to go help battle the disaster, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves.
