Pierce Brosnan’s and Jude Law’s agents, invited to the Managing Talents conference, at Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest

Agents who have managed the careers of several celebrities and well-known casting directors will be in Bucharest on October 22nd, at the Managing Talents conference, within Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest festival (October 14 – 23). Managing Talents will consider the three professions that promote the actor – the manager, the agent and the casting director – as well as the representation of film directors.

The guests of the conference are Ilene Feldman (talent manager, LBI Entertainment, USA), Avy Kaufman (casting director, USA), Richard Cook (Lisa Richard Agency, Ireland), and Georg Georgi (Das Imperium, Germany).

Ilene Feldman (LBI Entertainment) is one of the best known and influential agents in the United States, with names such as Ryan Gosling, Colin Farrell, Terrence Malick, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jude Law, Lily Collins, Dave Matthews or Amat Escalante on her roster. In the past, she represented Angelina Jolie, Brian Cox and Chris Isaak, and at the start of her career, in the 80’s, signed actors unknown at the time such as Nicholas Cage or Johnny Depp. She had her own agency for 19 years.

In her 30 years’ experience casting director Avy Kaufman has worked with famous directors like Ang Lee, Robert Redford, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Wong Kar-wai, Lars von Trier and signed the casting for over 150 productions including Life of Pi (2012), Lincoln (2012), Shame (2011), American Gangster (2007), Brokeback Mountain (2005) or The Sixth Sense (1999). In 2005 she received the Hollywood Casting Director of the Year award given by the Hollywood Film Festival, and in 2008 she won the Emmy award for her work on the pilot of the series Damages.

Richard Cook is one of the founders of the Irish agency The Lisa Richards Agency, set up in 1989 to represent clients in theatre and having become in the meantime one of the most important in Europe. In 27 years, the agency has expanded to London and is representing actors, comedians, playwrights, directors, designers, composers, presenters. Its portfolio, alongside actors such as Cillian Murphy, Aidan Turner and Pierce Brosnan, includes also Vlad Ivanov. Richard Cook is also the artistic director of Subtitle Film Fest as well as the founder of Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny, Ireland, one of the most important comedy festivals.

Georg Georgi comes from Berlin and is the founder of Das Imperium, an agency representing many European actors, including Cosmina Stratan, awarded Best Actress at Cannes for her performance in Cristian Mungiu’s După dealuri (Beyond the Hills). He is also one of the founders of Tryangle Inspiration Pictures GmbH, a production company for transmedia & branded entertainment content for film and series.

Managing Talents targets actors, directors, casting directors, distributors, producers, film school students. The conference aims to contribute at shaping a generation of professionals able to adapt easily to the international pace of work and practices, to inform young actors and directors about the fundamentals of talent management, to set the stage for meetings and potential work with the foreign guests.

Admission to the event is ticket based and the ticket price is 50 lei. Tickets will go on sale on the website www.eventbook.ro and at the Cinema Elvire Popesco’s box office starting September the 8th.

Subject to seat availability, free of charge access is granted to film school students, actors, directors and casting directors that register until October 14th by filling out the registration form on filmedefestival.ro/2016/managing-talents/.

One of the fall’s most important cultural events, Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, comes back between October 14th and 23rd, with an extended edition and the most anticipated films of the Cannes Film Festival selection. For the first time, the festival will last more than 10 days and will feature special editions in Cluj-Napoca, Iași și Timișoara.

The seventh edition of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest is organized by the Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films, in partnership with the Embassy of France and the French Institute in Bucharest. It is a cultural project financed by the National Center of Cinematography, SACD / Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques (Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers), the Cultural Project Centre of the Bucharest City Hall – ARCUB, within the cultural Program “Bucharest – the In-Visible City” 2016 and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Les Films de Cannes à Cluj-Napoca (October 14th – 16th) is a project carried out with the support of the Cluj-Napoca Local Council and City Hall and promotes the candidacy of the city of Cluj-Napoca for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2021.

The Timișoara edition (October 21st – 22nd) is carried out with the support of the Timișoara City Hall.

The Iași Edition is carried out with the support of Iași City Hall and the Association of Student Journalists in Iași.
