The Be A Critic At Cannes! Contest
Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest and Control N Cultural Association invite young film critics to join the debate and encourage them to write about author cinema. A contest devised specifically to go alongside the debate How, why and for whom do we still write about films? will offer them the chance to win an accreditation (including transport and accommodation) to the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
The contest is for people under 35 years old, who are consistently writing about cinema for a publication, blog or website and who have in their portfolios at least four pieces written in the last year.
Entry requirements: contestants must submit four written reviews published in the last year (September 2014 – September 2015). Ten participants will be selected to move on to a second stage of the contest. They will participate in the special events set up under the umbrella title of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest – Debates: the conference Piracy and cinema. How do we make it work? and the debate How, why and for whom do we still write about films?. Additionally, the ten participants will be required to submit a further three texts for the judges: a preview of Les Film de Cannes à Bucarest (fresh takes on the event are encouraged), the review of a film seen in the festival and an account of the conference that they attended.
Based upon these three texts, the organizers will pick the winner that will get the chance to travel to Cannes.
Submission period: 7 – 16 October
