The third edition of Managing Talents will be held on October 27th and 28th
On the second weekend of the festival, the third edition of Managing Talents will be taking place. The program aims to enable the meeting between Romanian actors and some of the most prestigious casting or representation agents in the world.
The Managing Talents Conference will take place on Saturday, October 27, from 10:30 to 13:00, at Cinema Pro, and will be followed by a social cocktail, also held in the cinema, between 13:00 and 13:45.
Richard Cook, co-organizer of the event, will be speaking at the conference, accompanied by the casting agents invited to the third edition: Debbie McWilliams, Anja Dihrberg and Frank Moiselle.
Richard Cook is one of the founders of the Irish Lisa Richards Agency, created in 1989, which has since become one of the most important agencies in Europe. The agency represents actors, scriptwriters, directors, designers, composers, and presenters. The agency’s portfolio includes Vlad Ivanov, alongside actors such as Pierce Brosnan. Richard Cook is also the artistic director of Subtitle Film Fest, as well as the founder of the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny, Ireland.
Debbie McWilliams is one of the most famous casting directors in the world, who has worked on the distribution of the last 13 James Bond films. She collaborated with directors such as Roman Polanski, Stephen Frears, Anthony Minghella, Sam Mendes, Martin Campbell, Marc Forster, and Ron Howard. She is a member of the American Syndicate of Casting Directors and the American Film Academy.
Frank Moiselle, a casting director nominated three times for Primetime Emmy, has collaborated with renowned directors such as Jim Sheridan, Joel Schumacher, Gillies MacKinnon and Neil Jordan. He began his career as a casting assistant for The Dead (dir. John Huston) and worked for numerous television series, including Ballykissangel (BBC), The Tudors, The Borgias and Vikings (History/MGM).
Anja Dihrberg began her career working for various theaters in Vienna and Berlin, and has been working in cinemas since 1995. She founded her own casting agency in 1997 and collaborated with directors such as Olivier Assayas, Cate Shortland, Ralph Fiennes, and Stefan Ruzowitzky. Recently she was a casting agent for Terrence Malick’s Radegund. Her casting agency has offices in Berlin and Cologne.
Participation in Managing Talents is free (but the number of available seats is limited) and is open to actors, students of acting, and to the public. Those interested are asked to sign up by filling out the form on the festival site.
Actors wishing to record a self-tape on the basis of which they may have the chance to have an individual meeting with casting agents are kindly requested to access the steps presented on the film management site, filmedefestival.ro, section Managing Talents.
The third edition of Managing Talents focuses on actors fluent in English and German.
Individual meetings will take place on Saturday, October 27, and Sunday, October 28. Richard Cook will select, on the basis of the self-tapes submitted, a number of actors he and the casting agents will meet, some of whom might get the chance to attend the Kilkenny Subtitled Film Festival, where they could meet over 30 casting agents from around the world.
The Romanian actors selected to participate in the Kilkenny Subtitled Film Festival will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival, on Sunday 28 October.
The Managing Talents event is organized with the support of CREDIDAM Romania.
